Extended Flights

Flight 3: Arkaroola

With a flying time of about 1 hour each way, this flight takes you over Wilpena Pound, the Northern Flinders Ranges and Lake Frome. On arrival at Arkaroola we join the Ridge Top Tour which takes us over the rugged and arid mountains of the Northern Flinders Ranges. Arkaroola is privately owned Wildlife Sanctuary and geologists dream.

Flight 4: . Andamooka Opal Fields

A flight of about 1 hour each way, over Wilpena Pound and the vast salt pan of Lake Torrens, to the arid desert beyond and to Andamooka. Andamooka is famous for its extremely high quality opal and is a fascinating town. You are taken on a guided tour of Andamooka and surrounding opal fields and have the opportunity to buy an exquisite opal before returning to Wilpena Pound after lunch.

Flight 5: William Creek/Lake Eyre

This flight taken about four and a half hours (allow 6 hours round trip) and offers excellent views of Outback South Australia. Beginning with a scenic flight over Aroona Valley and Brachina Gorge, you pass over the Leigh Creek Coal Fields, Maree (the start of the Birdsville Track) and Lake Eyre. Landing at remote William Creek (population 10 at last count) you’ll refresh yourself at the pub with lunch: then return flying over Andamooka and Lake Torrens.

The water is entering Lake Eyre North via the Warburton Groove. Whilst this water can be seen in the distance from our standard flight, an extra 30 minutes and return takes you to the top of the Lake to see the channel.

Flight 6: Coober Pedy

2 Day trip

Day 1 – Depart Wilpena at 10.00am for a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound and the Gorges. Ffly across the Western Plains, Lake Torrens and Andamooka/Roxby Downs on to Coober Pedy for lunch. After lunch a tour of the surrounds and opal mines finishing at the Desert Cave Hotel which is the world's only underground international hotel. Dinner will be at Umbertos Restaurant within the hotel.

Day 2 – After breakfast depart Coober Pedy at 10.00am for a flight over the Painted Desert and back to Wilpena Pound

Optional Flight 6a: Coober Pedy/Lake Eyre South/William Creek

Day 1 - Depart Wilpena at 10..30am for a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound and the Gorges. Then fly across the Western Plains and Lake Torrens for an aerial view of the "Maree Man". Fly over Lake Eyre South and onto William Creek for lunch. William Creek is a small outback town, with a population of 7 people. Depart after lunch for a direct flight to Coober Pedy where you will stay overnight at the Desert Cave Hotel which is the world's only underground international hotel. Dinner will be at Umbertos Restaurant which is in the hotel.

Day 2 - After an early breakfast take a 4 hour tour of the town, surrounding area and underground living, then return for lunch before departing Coober Pedy for Wilpena, whilst pointing out the Olympic Dam Mine on the way.

Flight 7: Outback Explorer

A 2 Day trip of a lifetime.

Day 1 – Lift off over Wilpena Pound and on to our first stop, Andamooka where we are escorted around Australia’s most unique opal mining towns. Departing Andamooka you fly over the vastness of Lake Eyre, one of the world’s greatest salt lakes then over the Simpson Desert and the Legendary Birdsville track, arriving for your overnight stay at the famous Birdsville Pub.

Day 2 – This morning you look around Birdsville and visit the working Museum. Then it’s off for Burke and Wills country around Innamincka. Your flight takes you over the Coongie Lakes, the Cooper Creek and naturally you’ll see the famous Dig Tree among other significant landmarks. After a leisurely lunch at Innamincka you head back to Wilpena, flying over the Strzelecki Track, Arkaroola and the Northern Flinders Ranges.
