A notice to guests regarding COVID-19 travel restrictions

We will be closed 19th~24th November 2020, possibly longer.

A COVID-19 Message From Wilpena Pound Resort - 18 November 2020.

Today SA Premier Steven Marshall has announced a state wide Circuit Breaker Lockdown for 6 days effective midnight tonight, and potentially longer.

This government directive requires restrictions on regional travel and closure of our core resort services.

What We're Doing

Due to this decision, Wilpena Pound Resort will enter into caretaker mode effective midnight 18th November 2020.

Our Resort, the Ikara Safari Camp and our Campground will be CLOSED during the lockdown period.

We will not be accepting bookings between now and the 24th Nov 2020, and possibly longer.

What Now

Please standby and wait to hear from us. We will be contacting guests who are holding bookings between now and the 24th of November 2020 in order of arrival date, to let you know your options. In the meantime, so that you can consider your options, your will be to:

  • Postpone your booking to a date in the future.
  • Cancel your booking for a full refund. 


NOTE: Our reservations team is under significant pressure responding to the rapidly evolving travel situation. At this stage we are prioritising guests with imminent travel.

We ask that you do not call or email our team unless your booking is within the next 48 hours.

If you have booked through a travel agency or third-party website, please contact these companies directly. You will have the same options available to you.

Booking Cancellation Process

Direct Bookings and Wilpena Pound Resort Website Bookings

If you have booked with us directly, and have let us know that you would like to cancel your booking, we will refund any pre-paid amount by the method you used to pay.

In other words, if you booked on our website, and paid by credit card, we will refund any prepaid amount to the same credit card. Please keep an eye out for this refund.

In some instances we may need to ask you for your bank details to process your refund.

NOTE: we are a small team and we are working through bookings in date order so it may take us a while to get to your booking  so please be patient. 

Travel Agent and Online Travel Website Bookings

If you booked through a travel agency or an online booking agency such as Expedia or Booking.com, please contact them to organise to cancel your booking.

In most instances you should be able to access your booking using their online portal, and request to cancel your booking.

In some instances our team may have cancelled the booking for you already and you may receive notification by email.
