A notice to guests regarding COVID-19 travel restrictions
A COVID-19 Message From Wilpena Pound Resort - 22 March 2020
The advent of Coronavirus or COVID-19 in 2020 has seen formal travel constraints applied in destinations around the world, with restrictions around entering South Australia announced this the weekend.
Premier Steven Marshall has announced that South Australia will shut its borders on Tuesday the 24th March at 4pm.
All people who enter South Australia will be forced into 14-day isolation or face penalties, with SA Police staffing 12 border patrol stations.
Due to this decision, Wilpena Pound Resort will enter into caretaker mode over the coming days.
Our Resort, the Ikara Safari Camp and our Campground will be CLOSED from the 1st of April until further notice.
We will not be accepting bookings between now and the 30th June 2020, and possibly longer.
Please standby and wait to hear from us. We will be contacting guests who are holding bookings between now and the 30th of June 2020 in order of arrival date to let you know your options. In the meantime, so that you can consider your options, your will be to:
NOTE: Our reservations team is under significant pressure responding to the rapidly evolving travel situation. At this stage we are prioritising guests with imminent travel.
We ask that you do not call or email our team unless your booking is within the next 48 hours.
If you have booked through a travel agency or third-party website, please contact these companies directly. You will have the same options available to you.
The best way for you to receive updates from us will be to monitor our website and social media channels:
Direct Bookings and Wilpena Pound Resort Website Bookings
If you have booked with us directly, and have let us know that you would like to cancel your booking, we will refund any pre-paid amount by the method you used to pay.
In other words, if you booked on our website, and paid by credit card, we will refund any prepaid amount to the same credit card. Please keep an eye out for this refund.
In some instances we may need to ask you for your bank details to process your refund.
NOTE: we are a small team and we are working through bookings in date order so it may take us a while to get to your booking if it is for Easter or the upcoming school holidays. We will get to you, please be patient.
Travel Agent and Online Travel Website Bookings
If you booked through a travel agency or an online booking agency such as Expedia or Booking.com, please contact them to organise to cancel your booking.
In most instances you should be able to access your booking using their online portal, and request to cancel your booking.
