Cultural tours

The Adnyamathanha people have lived in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges for tens of thousands of years. Wilpena Pound or Ikara, which in the traditional Adnyamathanha language means ‘the meeting place’, is a sacred place with strong cultural and spiritual significance to the Adnyamathanha people. Learn about the region from the land’s Traditional Owners by joining an Aboriginal cultural tour. These tours are led by an Adnyamathanha (Yura) guide.

Adnyamathanha Yarta

Each evening a Yura guide welcomes visitors to the area. The Welcome to Country is offered in the traditional Yura Ngawarla language and interpreted into English. The Yura guide explains the background to the Adnyamathanha flag and some of the traditional stories of the Yura Muda (dreaming).

All guests and visitors to the region are welcome to share in this complimentary Aboriginal cultural experience.
