Scenic flights

Once you’ve explored from the ground, the best way to take in this vast landscape is to tour the air. Take a short flight to see Wilpena Pound from a breathtaking bird’s eye perspective, or opt for a longer flight to explore more of the Flinders Ranges. Journey further to Lake Eyre or get adventurous with a stop over at Arkaroola ridgetop.

Short scenic flights

Take in the magnificent views of Wilpena Pound, the Elder Range, Edeowie Gorge, St Mary’s Peak, Heysen Range and Bunyeroo Gorge. Enjoy commentary that will guide passengers through more than 550 million years of geological history. Opt for the 30-minute flight that travels further north to include Brachina gorge.

One hour scenic flight

Enjoy all the sites of the short scenic flight route plus fly beyond Wilpena Pound over the Western Plains, Parachilna township, Parachilna Gorge, Blinman township and Copper Mine, the Bunkers Range and the Skytrek 4WD track. Take in the curved backbone-shaped Ikara-Flinders Ranges and marvel at the varying colours and textures of this ancient and beautiful landscape.

Lake Eyre and William Creek

Following a Wilpena Pound and Ikara-Flinders Ranges scenic flight, fly North over Parachilna, the Leigh Creek coal fields, the township of Marree and the Marree Man, and then on wards to Lake Eyre. Admire the spectacular natural beauty of Lake Eyre before landing at the remote town of William Creek for lunch at the hotel. Return via the Anna Creek Painted Hills, Andamooka opal fields and Lake Torrens. Approximately 6 hours, with lunch included.

Lake Eyre, William Creek and Warburton Grove

This is an extension of the Lake Eyre and William Creek flight to include the Warburton Grove. Follow the Warburton Grove up the length of Lake Eyre to its northernmost point, where the flood waters meet the lake. This is the most popular flight in times of flood as it provides exceptional views over the network of river systems alive with millions of migratory birds. Approximately 7 hours, with lunch included.

Arkaroola ridge top tour

Fly to Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary to join the iconic ridge top tour. A 4WD experience that takes passengers on a discovery of ancient geological history and onto Sillers Lookout. Enjoy morning tea with views over Arkaroola and the Eastern Plains all the way to Lake Frome. Relax with lunch at the Pick and Shovel. The return journey includes a scenic flight over Arkaroola, Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges and Wilpena Pound. Approximately 7 hours.
